San Francisco CA (Contract 12 Months) About the Role As a Readiness and Response Operator 2 (RR2), you will play a critical role in ensuring the readiness, safety, and uptime of a public-facing autonomous vehicle fleet. You will be responsible for preparing vehicles for service and responding to on-road incidents to support safe and efficient fleet operations. This position combines technical execution, fleet operations, vehicle preparation, field response, and customer support . You will serve as a primary responder during recovery events, assist riders when needed, and remotely operate vehicles to support recovery and repositioning. While the primary focus is the Service Fleet, you may also provide cross-functional support to the Test Fleet. Key Responsibilities1. Robotaxi Mission Readiness Perform daily pre-service and post-service inspections of autonomous vehicles. Conduct mechanical inspections, sensor verification, and data-processing procedures. Ensure vehicles meet operational, safety, and quality standards before entering service. 2. Fleet Response & Recovery Respond to in-field vehicle recovery and repositioning events on public roads. Coordinate safe vehicle extraction and recovery activities. Document incidents and recovery activities in real time. Support vehicle loading and unloading during recovery scenarios. 3. Remote Vehicle Operation Operate autonomous vehicles using remote input devices when required. Support vehicle recovery, repositioning, and movement through complex environments. Follow established procedures to safely manage vehicle states. 4. Rider Support & Concierge Provide professional and empathetic assistance to passengers during recovery events. Assist riders with safe vehicle entry and exit. Provide light concierge support during service disruptions. Educate riders and members of the public about autonomous vehicle technology when appropriate. Support operations at Pick-Up/Drop-Off (PUDO) locations. 5. Technical Troubleshooting & Vehicle Flashing Use terminal commands and internal GUIs to troubleshoot vehicle and system blockers. Perform hardware power cycles and basic technical recovery procedures. Flash vehicle firmware as required to restore vehicles to an operational state. Identify and report system anomalies. 6. Fleet Uptime & Quality Maintain high standards for vehicle interior and exterior cleanliness. Perform routine vehicle detailing and readiness activities. Manage routine vehicle charging cycles. Support charging infrastructure upkeep and operational readiness. Help maximize fleet availability and throughput during public operating hours. 7. Logistics & New Market Enablement Support vehicle movement, transportation, and storage across multiple sites. Assist with new service-market launches and fleet deployments. Support site organization and local readiness audits. Help establish operational readiness at new locations. 8. Consumables & Inventory Maintain inventory of fleet consumables and cleaning supplies. Track interior amenities and minor hardware. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment to prevent service disruptions. RequirementsSafety & Compliance Strictly follow all safety procedures and protocols. Consistently use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Must pass a background check, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, and drug screen. Must comply with applicable Controlled Substance and Alcohol Testing Program requirements for public passenger service. Experience 2-4 years of experience in a fast-paced environment combining logistics and customer service.
