Operations Manager / Owner Position Summary We are seeking an experienced and dependable Tree Trimmer / Crew Leader to lead daily tree-service operations while performing skilled tree work in residential and commercial settings. The Crew Leader is responsible for safely directing the crew, completing tree trimming and removal work to company standards, operating equipment, communicating with customers when needed, and ensuring each job is completed efficiently, professionally, and safely. The ideal candidate is an experienced tree-care professional who can work independently, lead a crew, recognize hazards, and take pride in quality workmanship. Key Responsibilities Lead and supervise a tree-service crew on daily job sites. Perform professional tree trimming, pruning, shaping, and removal. Safely climb trees and operate chainsaws, chippers, stump equipment, and other tree-care equipment as qualified. Conduct job-site safety assessments and identify potential hazards before work begins. Direct crew members and assign tasks to keep work organized and productive. Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices. Follow proper climbing, rigging, cutting, lowering, and debris-handling procedures. Safely operate or oversee the operation of trucks, trailers, chippers, lifts, and other company equipment. Maintain equipment and report mechanical or safety issues promptly. Communicate professionally with customers regarding the work being performed. Review job specifications and ensure work is completed according to the customer's expectations and company standards. Keep job sites clean and organized before leaving. Complete required job-site paperwork, time records, equipment inspections, and other documentation. Train and mentor less-experienced crew members in safe and proper tree-care practices. Represent the company professionally at all times. Follow all company safety policies and applicable regulations. Qualifications Previous professional tree-care experience required. Previous crew-lead or supervisory experience preferred. Strong knowledge of tree trimming, pruning, removal, climbing, rigging, and job-site safety. Ability to safely operate chainsaws and other tree-care equipment. Comfortable working at heights and performing physically demanding outdoor work. Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy equipment and materials. Valid driver's license required; appropriate driving credentials for company vehicles preferred. Ability to work in varying weather conditions. Reliable transportation to the company/job-site location. Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently while also directing and supporting a crew. Professional attitude and commitment to quality and customer service. Preferred Qualifications Arborist or tree-care industry certifications. Commercial driver's license (CDL). Aerial lift experience. Experience with advanced rigging systems. First Aid/CPR certification. Experience operating chippers, loaders, stump grinders, and other specialized equipment. Knowledge of local tree species and proper pruning practices. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to: Work outdoors for extended periods. Climb and work safely at significant heights. Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and climb. Lift and carry heavy equipment and materials. Operate chainsaws and other power equipment. Work around noise, dust, wood debris, and changing weather conditions. Perform physically demanding work throughout the workday.
