Job Description

Job Summary:

•We are seeking an experienced Fleet & Maintenance Supervisor to oversee fleet, transportation, equipment, and maintenance activities at a salvage yard. This role is responsible for ensuring the availability, safety, and proper operating condition of trucks, cranes, heavy equipment, and other operational assets while supporting daily yard operations and maintaining DOT compliance. The ideal candidate is hands-on, organized, safety-focused, and experienced in fleet, maintenance, transportation, or heavy equipment operations.

Responsibilities:

•Supervise the daily availability, safety, and operating condition of trucks, cranes, and heavy equipment. Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance, repairs, inspections, and equipment downtime. Maintain accurate fleet, maintenance, inspection, and equipment records. Ensure vehicles and fleet activities comply with applicable DOT requirements . Coordinate transportation activities, including internal and external movement of vehicles, materials, and equipment. Oversee loading, unloading, and receiving activities as needed. Verify vehicles and identify valuable components such as catalytic converters and recoverable batteries. Supervise truck weighing activities and maintain accurate tare, gross, and net weight records. Identify and report equipment failures, safety concerns, operational issues, and replacement needs to the Yard Manager. Ensure compliance with company safety procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.

Experience:

•High school diploma or GED. 3+ years of experience in fleet management, equipment maintenance, transportation, logistics, or industrial operations. Supervisory or leadership experience preferred. Experience with trucks, trailers, cranes, loaders, excavators, or other heavy equipment. Experience coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance. Working knowledge of DOT requirements and fleet compliance . OSHA safety knowledge or training preferred. Experience in a salvage yard, scrap metal, recycling facility, construction, warehouse, transportation, or industrial environment preferred. Valid driver's license. Bilingual. Fluent Spanish required.
