Job Summary:
Transportation Supervisor The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the transportation and Logistics operations within the organization. This includes managing the movement of goods, ensuring timely deliveries, coordinating with suppliers and customers, and optimizing the efficiency of the logistics process. The role requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills to effectively manage a team and maintain higher standards of service.
Primary Responsibilities:
1.
Supervision and Management:
o Oversee daily transport and logistics operations, including the scheduling and dispatching of vehicles. o Manage and lead a team of drivers, coordinate with warehouse staff, and logistics coordinators. o Ensure that all team members adhere to safety standards and company policies. 2.
Logistics Planning and Coordination:
o Develop and implement logistics strategies to optimize delivery schedules, reduce costs, and improve efficiency. o Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and customers to ensure timely and accurate deliveries. o Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure availability of products. 3.
Compliance and Safety:
o Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations. o Implement and monitor safety protocols for the transportation and handling of goods. o Conduct regular safety training and audits to ensure a safe working environment. o Maintain consistent communication with drivers throughout the day. o Monitor and manage driver Hours of Service (HOS) and ensure DOT compliance. 4.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
o Prepare and present regular reports on logistics performance, cost management, and operational efficiency. o Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions. 5.
Customer Service:
Address and resolve any issues or concerns related to transportation and logistics. Maintain strong relationships with customers, ensuring elevated levels of satisfaction. Manage customer inquiries and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field
  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within transport and logistics.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards.
  • Maximize driver productivity while maintaining safe and legal operations.
  • Verify rate confirmations, Bills of Lading (BOLs), and dispatch paperwork.
  • Work closely with operations and customers to ensure service expectations are meet or exceeded.
  • Build strong relationships with drivers, brokers, and customers.
  • Maintain accurate dispatch records and daily reports.
  • Assist with route optimization and operational efficiency improvements.
