Hiring Agency Justice & Public Safety Cabinet | Department of Corrections Location 4000 Morgan Rd La Grange, KY 40031 USA Description The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Adult Institutions operates 13 correctional facilities that house Kentucky's adult inmate population. The mission of DOC is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills which facilitate non-criminal behavior. The Correctional Farm Crew Leader at Roederer Correctional Complex supervises a crew of inmates in the farm operations area of the institution. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Supervise inmates in farm activities (planting, cultivating, harvesting crops, feeding livestock, cleaning out barns, cutting bushes, pulling plants, transplanting seedlings, fence repairs, etc. Provide direction to inmates on proper use of farm tools and care of livestock. Enforce safety measures. Maintain records and additional logs of supplies and inmate work time. Maintain inventory. Maintain preventative maintenance schedule on all farm equipment and maintain proper cleaning and storage of tractors and equipment. Minimum RequirementsEDUCATION
High school graduate.EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS
Must have one year of agricultural or landscaping/grounds keeping experience. SubstituteEDUCATION

Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Working Conditions May be exposed to risk of injury associated with working with animals and with farm machinery and tools which requires the following of safety procedures. Work is performed in all types of weather conditions. Probationary Period This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided inKRS 18A.111.
