The Maintenance Crew Leader is a hands-on leadership position responsible for the successful installation and arrangement of landscape and hardscape projects. This position directs the daily work of one or more team members while actively participating in job-site work and operating machinery and equipment. The Crew Leader works closely with the Landscape Production Coordinator to support project goals, productivity, quality, and safety. Essential Responsibilities Direct daily activities at assigned job sites, including coordinating workflow, performing hands-on work, and operating machinery and equipment. Manage and direct the work of one or more crew members. Communicate expectations, project goals, progress, and concerns to the Maintenance Coordinator. Accurately record daily time and job information for the entire crew using Aspire Crew Mobile. Help ensure landscape and hardscape projects are completed efficiently and according to company quality standards. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site. Follow and promote company safety procedures, including the proper use of protective equipment. Safely operate tools, vehicles, machinery, and industrial equipment. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous landscape construction, green-industry, general construction, or other related hands-on experience is preferred. Previous experience leading or directing the work of others is preferred. High school diploma or GED is preferred. Ability to safely operate machinery, vehicles, tools, and landscape or construction equipment. Ability to learn and use Aspire Crew Mobile. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work effectively as part of a team. Positive attitude and willingness to work alongside assigned crew members. Valid Michigan driver's license with a chauffeur endorsement required. Class A CDL preferred. Bilingual Spanish and English skills are preferred, but not required. Schedule, Travel, and Work Environment This is a field-based role that begins and ends each workday at Landscape Design Services in West Olive. Company transportation is provided to and from client job sites. The schedule varies with production needs and weather; peak season typically includes 50-60-hour workweeks and Saturdays as needed. Work is performed in outdoor job-site and repair/maintenance shop environments in varying weather conditions. The position includes exposure to moving equipment, fumes, airborne particles, noise, hazardous materials, extreme temperatures, and confined spaces, and requires the use of appropriate personal protective equipment. Physical Requirements Frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 75 pounds. Regularly climb, bend, squat, kneel, crouch, reach, use hands and fingers, and work above shoulder height. Safely operate vehicles, machinery, tools, and industrial equipment. Communicate clearly, read and understand job information, and use the visual and hearing abilities necessary to safely perform field work.
