Job Description
I.F. Metalworks is a custom manufacturer specializing in high quality fabricated metal products for multiple markets. This is a first shift, full-time position. We are seeking highly motivated, and experienced people who adapt well to change, take pride in quality workmanship, and seek the daily challenge of working on custom projects for customers who expect the best. We are looking for a reliable,detail oriented on-site foreman for architectural and light structural metalwork consisting mostly of stairs, railings, and awnings. Work consists of over-seeing field work when installations are underway and shop work when not installing. The ideal candidate would be an experienced foreman who also has construction site experience/fabrication experience. OSHA 30 is required, but training can be provided to individuals without that certification. Field work is local in Metro Detroit, without overnight travel. Responsibilities for the Field Crew Leader include, but are not limited to: Layout, fabricating, hoisting and erecting structural steel of miscellaneous metals including stairs, railings, balconies and awnings. Installation of steel stairs and railings, ornamental steel structures, gates, awnings, and canopies. Welding, torch cutting, grinding and fabrication (TIG welding experience preferred) Read drawings or blueprints to determine work requirements. Using angle and bent plate, welding clips, joists, tube steel or angle kickers as needed. Use plumb bobs, levels, and laser equipment to check alignment. Maintain truck inventory and upkeep. Other duties as assigned. Leadership opportunities for Qualified candidates. Qualifications we seek include, but are not limited to: Steel welding, fabricating, and erection experience (5 years) Active driver's license; must have (and maintain) a good driving record Authorized to work in the United States High school diploma (or equivalent), or higher education Advanced knowledge of tool and equipment safety AWS Qualifications preferred, but not required OSHA 30 Certification preferred, but not required Aerial Lift Certification Scaffold Certification preferred, but not required Ability to work with and lead a crew of 3 or more people
