Job Description

Shipping Coordinator:
The Shipping Coordinator is responsible for handling the company's distribution. A shipping coordinator is an administrative professional who monitors and records all incoming and outgoing shipments. Additional duties may include preparing parcels for shipment and inventory control. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Verify and keep records of incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment: Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures of items incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records. Affix shipping labels on packed cartons. Assemble cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers. Insert items into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding. Nail covers on wooden crates and binds containers with woven poly tape, using strapping machine. Attach identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers. Post weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage. Unpack and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Route items to departments. Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications. Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies. Operate tier-lift truck or hand trucks to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping-and-receiving platform to storage or work areas. May direct others in preparing outgoing and receiving incoming shipments. May receive damaged or defective goods returned to establishment. Requirements Relevant qualifications in a related discipline role. Ability to perform other duties, as required Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
