Job Description
The Distribution Supervisor role consists of all the things a Route Coordinator and Route Driver do. This includes loading and unloading vans, delivering products, addressing customer issues regarding service and products, and accurately and consistently addressing and documenting route errors. Other responsibilities also include scheduling and route balancing. The person in this role must have the ability to understand, anticipate, and meet the customer needs and provide superior customer service in accordance with the company Mission and Vision Statements. The Distribution Manager will demonstrate a thorough understanding of and adhere to company safety policies and standard operating procedures and perform all duties with minimal supervision. This role also conducts and documents regular safety meetings, as well as, creates standard training and safety training materials as needed. Standard Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Use data from internal systems to evaluate performance and quality of work and to plan improvements Allocate and manage staff resources according to changing needs Manage staff Liaise with customers Develop business by gaining new contacts, analyzing logistical problems and producing new solutions Continually try to improve and develop business performance within the constraints of legislation, fuel costs, and rising environmental pressures Implement health and safety procedures. Manage staff training issues Motivate other members of the team Project manage Set objectives Plan projects Plan vehicle routes Requirements Excellent organizational skills Ability to balance priorities Good analytical and numerical skills Proven experience of team management Knowledge of health and safety requirements Excellent interpersonal, skills PC literate Cost awareness Knowledge of working time legislation Experience of working in a distribution environment Transportation operational experience Shift work may be required
