To provide its customers with the most localized attention, Van Dyk Baler Corp. has located six offices throughout the United States and Canada. Position Summary The Working Warehouse Supervisor oversees daily warehouse operations while actively participating in warehouse activities. This hands-on leader is responsible for safe, accurate, and efficient receiving, inventory control, order picking, packing, shipping, and material handling. Unlike a traditional supervisor, this individual is expected to work alongside the warehouse team, lead by example, coach employees, and help build a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Leadership
  • Lead warehouse personnel through daily activities and establish clear daily priorities.
  • Assign work based on operational needs, staffing, and customer commitments.
  • Coach, mentor, and train warehouse employees.
  • Conduct regular performance discussions and provide timely feedback.
  • Hold employees accountable for attendance, productivity, quality, and safety.
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and team-oriented culture. Hands-On Warehouse Operations This is a working-supervisor role. The supervisor is expected to participate actively in warehouse work, including:
  • Receive incoming shipments and inspect deliveries for damage and accuracy.
  • Pick, stage, pack, and ship customer orders, parts, and equipment.
  • Load and unload trucks and operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
  • Assist with cycle counts and physical inventories.
  • Organize warehouse locations and maintain a clean, orderly, and safe workplace. Inventory Control
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and investigate discrepancies.
  • Support cycle-count programs and the annual physical inventory.
  • Monitor obsolete and slow-moving inventory.
  • Ensure materials are properly labeled, stored, and traceable. Shipping and Receiving
  • Verify incoming shipments and coordinate outbound shipments.
  • Work closely with Purchasing and Spare Parts to support material flow.
  • Ensure shipping, receiving, and inventory documentation is complete and accurate. Safety
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with applicable OSHA requirements and company procedures.
  • Conduct routine safety observations and correct unsafe conditions or practices promptly.
  • Participate in incident investigations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain strong housekeeping and workplace-organization standards. Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve warehouse efficiency, layout, and organization.
  • Reduce unnecessary travel time and improve material flow.
  • Improve inventory accuracy and standardize warehouse processes.
  • Recommend practical equipment, technology, and process improvements. Cross-Functional Support Work closely with Purchasing, Spare Parts, Engineering, Project Management, Field Service, Accounting, and Sales to ensure materials are available when needed and operational priorities are aligned. QualificationsRequired
  • Ten or more years of warehouse experience.
  • Five or more years leading or supervising warehouse employees.
  • Strong inventory-control experience.
  • Experience operating forklifts and other warehouse equipment.
  • Experience using an ERP or inventory-management system.
  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform the physical functions of a working warehouse role, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Valid driver's license. Preferred
  • Industrial-equipment or industrial-parts experience.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • ERP experience, ideally with Acumatica, NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle.
  • Lean manufacturing, continuous-improvement, or 5S experience.
  • Current forklift operator certification.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
