Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and organized Shipping and Receiving Yard Supervisor to oversee our daily yard operations and logistics. In this role, you will manage the movement, loading, unloading, and storage of materials and vehicles within the yard. You will lead a team of yard attendants and drivers while ensuring strict compliance with safety regulations and Department of Transportation (DOT) standards. The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership skills, a keen eye for efficiency, and a valid DOT license to occasionally operate commercial vehicles or move equipment as needed. Key Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the shipping, receiving, and yard personnel. Oversee the safe loading, unloading, and staging of all incoming and outgoing freight. Maintain an orderly and efficient yard layout to optimize traffic flow and maximize space utilization. Ensure all DOT regulations, safety protocols, and company policies are strictly followed in the yard. Perform regular inspections of yard equipment, commercial vehicles, and tools to ensure proper maintenance and safety compliance. Maintain accurate logs, shipping documents, and inventory records using our management system. Coordinate with dispatchers, carriers, and warehouse teams to ensure on-time departures and arrivals. Step in to operate commercial vehicles or spot trailers within the yard when required. Train, mentor, and evaluate yard staff, fostering a culture of safety and accountability. Qualifications and Requirements Valid Department of Transportation (DOT) medical card and appropriate commercial driver's license if required by equipment weight. Minimum of 3 years of experience in logistics, shipping and receiving, or yard operations. At least 1-2 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role. Deep understanding of DOT regulations, OSHA compliance, and safe cargo handling practices. Proficiency in using warehouse management systems (WMS) or inventory tracking software. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills. Ability to work in various outdoor weather conditions and lift up to 80 pounds. High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications or logistics training is a plus. Benefits Competitive hourly rate or salary based on experience. Pay:
$26.00 - $28.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
