Job Description

Role Summary

The Shipping Supervisor oversees daily outbound operations within the manufacturing facility, ensuring all customer shipments are processed accurately, safely, and on time. This role manages shipping staff, coordinates with production, materials planning, and customer service teams, and ensures compliance with company standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines. This posting is for the 1st and 2nd shifts. The salary range for these positions is $60,000 - $72,000/year according with relevant skills and experience. Main Tasks

Operational Oversight

  • Supervise and direct daily shipping activities, including order staging, packing, loading, and carrier scheduling.
  • Ensure all shipments meet quality, quantity, and delivery schedule requirements.
  • Coordinate with Production and MP&L (Materials Planning & Logistics) to align shipping priorities with plant output.
  • Maintain accuracy of shipping documentation (BOLs, packing slips, ASN transmissions, export paperwork, etc.).
    Team Leadership
  • Lead, train, and develop shipping team members to meet performance, safety, and quality standards.
  • Schedule, assign, and monitor team activities, including overtime and cross-training.
  • Conduct performance reviews, address disciplinary issues, and support employee engagement initiatives. Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure shipping operations comply with OSHA, DOT, and company safety standards.
  • Monitor loading/unloading procedures for safe practices.
  • Support audits, inventory cycle counts, and continuous improvement initiatives.
    Continuous Improvement
  • Implement lean practices to optimize workflow, minimize costs, and reduce errors.
  • Track and report shipping KPIs (on-time delivery, accuracy, productivity, carrier performance).
  • Drive process improvements in packaging, labeling, and dock utilization. Qualifications
Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.

    Experience:

    3-5 years in manufacturing logistics or shipping, including 1-2 years in a supervisory role.

    Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong leadership and communication skills.
    • Knowledge of shipping documentation, carrier coordination, and ERP/WMS systems.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement practices.
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred in multicultural workforce settings.
