Job Description

Butternut Mountain Farm is a second-generation, Vermont family-owned company. We proudly package and ship pure maple syrup year-round - not just during sugaring season. As one of the largest packers of pure maple syrup in the U.S., we are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Shipping Coordinator to lead a shipping team in the timely and accurate fulfillment of orders within a food production environment. The Shipping Coordinator will be responsible for managing daily shipping operations, optimizing team performance, and ensuring compliance with food safety guidelines. The ideal candidate will be actively involved in ensuring the safety of both food products and personnel, while adhering to company standards.
Team Leadership and Supervision:
Lead and manage the shipping team, ensuring efficient and accurate shipping operations. Provide training, coaching, and ongoing support to team members to ensure a high level of performance and safety. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes teamwork and accountability. Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and food safety regulations. Perform daily huddles to communicate and solicit feedback from the team.
Shipping Operations Management:
Oversee the preparation, packaging, and shipping of food products in compliance with industry standards. Coordinate with warehouse and production teams to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment. Track, resolve, and report any shipping discrepancies or errors.
Food Safety and Quality Control:
Enforce compliance with Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) guidelines. Ensure proper handling, storage, and transportation of food products to prevent contamination and maintain quality. Conduct regular department audits to ensure food safety standards are met and maintained.
Safety Compliance:
Ensure adherence to all company safety guidelines to minimize workplace hazards and injuries. Provide leadership in creating a culture of safety, conducting regular safety briefings, and enforcing proper personal protective equipment (PPE) usage. Actively participate in our safety committee Investigate and report any safety incidents or near misses and implement corrective actions.
Reporting and Documentation:
Maintain accurate shipping records, including order details, shipping manifests, and inventory logs. Assist in generating shipping reports for management, including tracking data, delivery statuses, and any issues or delays. Participate in regular inventory audits to ensure proper stock levels and traceability.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities to streamline shipping processes, reduce costs, and increase efficiency without compromising safety or quality. Provide feedback and suggestions to management for process improvements, staff training needs, or safety enhancements.
