We are seeking an experienced Shipping Supervisor to oversee daily shipping operations and lead a team supporting national and international customer shipments. This is a working leadership position that combines hands-on shipping responsibilities with team supervision. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, making decisions independently, troubleshooting issues, and developing employees through coaching and training. The majority of the role will be based in an office adjacent to the warehouse. This is primarily a desk-based position, with occasional time spent on the warehouse floor to troubleshoot issues, verify inventory, and support the team.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and coordinate daily shipping activities and workflow. Supervise shipping administrative staff and warehouse shipping personnel. Develop work schedules, assign responsibilities, and monitor productivity. Provide ongoing coaching, training, feedback, and recognition to team members. Help establish and improve shipping procedures to increase efficiency. Coordinate daily carrier pickups, including full truckload, LTL, intermodal, and customer pickups. Prepare and review bills of lading, packing documentation, labels, weights, and shipping information. Coordinate shipments and ensure paperwork is accurate and completed on schedule. Assist with planning and allocating upcoming truckloads and shipments. Work with transportation providers to obtain competitive shipping rates. Coordinate expedited shipments when necessary. Prepare required documentation for international shipments. Monitor inventory and assist with periodic cycle counts. Address last-minute customer or shipment issues and determine appropriate solutions. Maintain organized, safe, and compliant work areas. Participate in hiring, employee development, and performance management as the team grows. Serve as a backup resource for other logistics/shipping functions when needed.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required. At least 2 years of warehouse/shipping experience. At least 2 years of experience working within an organization that manages its own transportation or fleet. Previous supervisory, lead, or team leadership experience required. Experience within manufacturing, distribution, logistics, or a related environment preferred. Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills. Experience working with an ERP system required. Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is highly desirable. Experience with Great Plains, JDE/Net, Crystal Reports, or Citrix is a plus. Strong communication and organizational skills. Comfortable taking ownership, asking questions, and stepping into a leadership role. Ability to successfully complete a background check and drug screening.
