Lead - Shipping Confidential is seeking an experienced Lead - Shipping to join our operations team. The Warehouse Lead will be responsible for overseeing and participating in the shipping, receiving, and storing of products. The Warehouse Lead serves as a lead over one or more assigned warehouse functions and is responsible for training and providing work direction and guidance to assigned staff.
Responsibilities:
Open and close the shift on a daily basis Print and assign routes to employees so the team can begin operations Oversee all warehouse employees' functions Ensure adherence to FIFO (First In, First Out) across all warehouse employees Ensure quality assurance procedures are followed, including product rotation and cycle counts Responsible for picking and loading all products in a timely manner Ensure cooler and freezer aisles, along with dock areas, are always kept clean and swept Communicate with customers and clients if issues arise regarding delivery times or order discrepancies Maintain general warehouse cleanliness, ensuring the physical environment is clean and well organized Ensure procedures for addressing possible product theft are followed Ensure compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations Help reduce financial loss related to damaged products Oversee correct labeling of all products per purchase orders and report discrepancies to the Warehouse Supervisor, Warehouse Manager, Director of Warehouse Operations, or buyer Inspect all work equipment to identify shortages and damages and report findings to management Ensure all equipment (electric pallet jacks, forklifts, and scanner guns) is charging by end of shift Serve as Warehouse Supervisor in their absence, as assigned Ensure all products leave the warehouse in good condition Maintain discipline in the working environment Verify no truck leaves with missing or extra product Cover for any missing employee position as needed In an emergency, ensure everyone evacuates the premises in a timely manner Know how to safely clean hazardous spills Perform related duties as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor's or associate degree in administration, retail, merchandising, supply chain, or related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience accepted 2-3 years of experience in warehousing or supply chain management Exceptional leadership and directing abilities Understanding of finance, databases, and spreadsheets Strong interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills Understanding of safety and legal procedures for handling and receiving goods Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines Ability to coordinate work with internal and external partners Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
