Fall River, MA (In-person) About New England Alpaca Fiber Pool (NEAFP) For over 25 years, NEAFP has been the nation's premier processor of alpaca fiber, playing a key role in the sustainable "slow fashion" movement. We are a small, tight-knit, family-owned manufacturing and logistics company. Here, we don't sit behind desks—everyone pitches in, rolls up their sleeves, and works side-by-side to get the job done. If you have invested in your education and are looking for a active, hands-on leadership position where you can work directly with a team and build a long-term career, this is the place for you.
The Role:
Working Lead & Department Anchor This is a 100% active, hands-on position . You won't just be overseeing the work; you will be on the floor doing the work with your team every day. You will lead a core crew of 5 fiber sorters by example, actively sorting fiber, running baling equipment, managing Work-in-Progress (WIP) materials, and handling shipping and receiving right alongside them.
Key Responsibilities:
Active Fiber Sorting & Operations:
Work directly alongside your 5-person crew to sort, grade, and process raw fiber, maintaining high quality and steady output.
Keep Work-in-Progress (WIP) inventory organized and physically supply raw materials to our manufacturing department to keep production moving.
Baling Equipment Operation:
Run and oversee fiber baling machinery, compressing and packaging finished bales safely for shipment.
Team Motivation & Shop Upkeep:
Motivate your crew through your own work ethic while taking personal pride in keeping the workspace clean, safe, and organized.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred (Business, Logistics, Management, or related fields). Candidates with equivalent demonstrated leadership experience will also be considered.
Hands-On Mindset:
Must enjoy physical, active work and prefer being on the floor over sitting at a desk.
Leadership Drive:
A strong desire to lead by example, solve daily operational challenges, and grow into broader operational management over time.
Work Ethic & Reliability:
A personal track record of commitment, dependability, and long-term dedication.
Communication:
Clear, direct communication skills to coordinate work across our small team.
What We Offer:
Competitive Compensation:
$22.00 - $26.00/hour (Starting rate tailored to your degree level and relevant experience).
Direct Growth:
Direct visibility with business owners and a clear path for long-term career advancement as the company grows.
Predictable Schedule:
Full-time day shift (Mon-Fri, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM). No nights or weekends.
Benefits Package:
Health Insurance, Paid Time Off (PTO, Vacation, Sick, and Holidays), and employee discounts.
To Apply:
We value candidates who want to invest their energy into a stable, long-term home. Please submit your resume along with a brief note introducing yourself and telling us why a hands-on leadership role in a small business appeals to you.
