ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following:
- Responsible for managing all outbound shipments, including preparation of sequentially numbered paperwork in software system, management of packaging material inventories, packaging of product to be shipped, and arrangement of transportation services.
- Must have thorough knowledge of shipping practices available means of transportation and rates.
- Must be able to navigate via supply chain portals/internet to generate bills of lading, as well as manual—weigh containers and record weight and shipping charges.
- Must be able to operate hand trucks and forklift trucks.
- Perform packing operations. Contacts carriers, as necessary, to arrange pick up of items ready for shipment and trace lost shipments.
- Responsible for maintenance and cleaning of inventory area, inventory organization and racking. Assist with inventory cycle counts.
- Performs general housekeeping, maintenance and organization of the dock and inventory areas; includes hands-on cleaning and maintenance along with organization and interpersonal skills to coordinate with other departments and outside waste disposal vendor.
- Prepare and file necessary records in connection with goods shipped.
- Assists in unloading carriers occasionally and may participate in storage of material.
- Performs shipping and inventory transaction utilizing company MRP system.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Must have strong organization skills.
- Familiar with inventory methods and practices.
- Good communication skills and pays attention to detail.
- Good understanding of commercial enterprise.
- This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day.
- Must be able to frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
- Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to read and write basic math skills.
- Minor decision making skills.
- Ability to function in this capacity under limited supervision.
EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year in manufacturing environment.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

COMPUTER SKILLS
Experience with relevant software applications—Microsoft Word, Excel and MRP systems.
