About the
Role:
The Assistant Yard Foreman plays a critical role in supporting the efficient and safe operation of the yard facility. This position involves overseeing daily yard activities, coordinating with various teams to ensure smooth workflow, and maintaining compliance with safety and operational standards. The Assistant Yard Foreman assists in managing inventory, scheduling equipment maintenance, and facilitating communication between yard personnel and management. This role requires proactive problem-solving to address operational challenges and optimize yard productivity. Ultimately, the Assistant Yard Foreman contributes to creating a well-organized, safe, and productive work environment that supports the overall success of the organization.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 2 years of experience in yard operations, logistics, or a related field. Basic knowledge of safety regulations and operational procedures in an industrial or yard environment. Ability to read and interpret operational documents and safety guidelines. Strong communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a yard or warehouse setting. Familiarity with inventory management systems and equipment maintenance scheduling. Certification in occupational safety or related training (e.g., OSHA). Experience operating yard equipment such as forklifts or cranes. Technical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment and operational issues.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Yard Foreman in supervising yard operations and personnel to ensure efficient workflow. Coordinate the movement and storage of materials, equipment, and vehicles within the yard. Monitor safety protocols and enforce compliance with company and regulatory safety standards. Schedule and track maintenance and repairs of yard equipment and machinery. Maintain accurate records of inventory, equipment usage, and daily operational activities. Communicate effectively with team members, management, and external vendors to resolve issues and improve processes. Support training and development of yard staff to enhance skills and operational knowledge. Assist in planning and implementing yard layout improvements to maximize space utilization.
