Job Description

SUMMARY Verifies quantity, quality, labeling, and addressing of products and items of merchandise ready for shipment by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following.
  • Counts, weighs, measures, or examines packaging and contents of items for conformance to company and customer specifications. Compares items packed with customer's order and other identifying data. (25%)
  • Affixes postage on packages and prepares shipping documents. (25%)
  • Loads and braces material in trucks. Loading and unloading of trucks with fork lift. (25%)
  • Securing crates with nails, banding, plastic wrap, foam packaging, and nylon straps. (25%)
  • Responsible for both domestic and international shipments. Experience in international shipments is a plus.
  • Maintains contact with customer forwarder/broker on international shipments both inbound and outbound.
  • Obtains quotes for both inbound and outbound freight traffic.
  • Quotes, schedules, and follows up on emergency and special customer order shipments.
  • Preparation of all shipping documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices.
  • Maintains adequate and accurate files and documentation
  • Document reporting
  • international shipment.
  • Government billing
  • WAWF and RFID labeling.
  • Ordering containers/supplies for both export and import shipments.
  • Monitor and review cost on freight.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Lift Truck Operator License strongly preferred. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
Degree preferred and/or 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
