The Shipping Supervisor will lead the daily shipping operation at our Wilmington, Ohio manufacturing facility. This position oversees shipping clerks and material handling operators and is responsible for the safe, accurate and timely movement of finished goods to customers, internal partners, and export destinations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can hold people accountable while building respectful working relationships, maintain a high standard for safety, and perform effectively in a fast-paced, multi-shift shipping environment. Primary Responsibilities Safety and Compliance Promote a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and safety standards. Respond to safety incidents from beginning to end, including reporting, investigation, documentation, follow-up and corrective action. Lead safety communication through preshift meetings, Gemba walks and regular team engagement. Investigate accidents, near misses and unsafe behaviors, and ensure corrective actions are completed. People Leadership and Accountability Lead, coach and develop approximately 23 team members, including shipping clerks and material handling operators, across a three-shift operation. Build trust and respect with the team while setting clear expectations for safety, attendance, productivity, quality, and performance. Manage schedules, timekeeping, daily work assignments, training completion, and performance follow-up. Conduct performance evaluations and administer timely corrective action when appropriate. Support the hiring, onboarding, and development of hourly shipping employees. Shipping Operations Oversee daily outbound shipping activity. Coordinate truck appointments, carrier check-in, loading, paperwork, tarping and carrier check-out processes. Lead shipping activities involving flatbeds, vans, railcars, and ocean containers. Partner with shipping clerks, material handlers, transportation providers and internal teams to ensure accurate, on-time shipments. Monitor and resolve shipment discrepancies, load tendering concerns, and daily system or operational issues. Complete daily reports and required JDE transactions accurately and on time. Inventory and Accuracy Maintain finished goods inventory accuracy through cycle counts, physical inventory, FIFO practices and accurate system transactions. Lead and organize yard inventory activities in coordination with operators, accounting and other stakeholders. Investigate and resolve shipping discrepancies, inventory issues and material movement concerns. Maintain appropriate inventory levels for non-stock shipping supplies, including pallets. Cross-Functional Coordination Partner closely with receiving, production, purchasing, customer service, logistics and accounting to align priorities and resolve issues affecting shipping flow. Communicate with production regarding product availability, inventory status and shipping priorities. Conduct regular touchpoints with Customer Service to review capacity, backorders and order discrepancies. Use Microsoft Excel and internal systems to monitor shipping volume, revenue, backorders and customer on-time performance. Monitor shipping equipment and coordinate work orders or purchase orders for PIT equipment, printers, radios, scanners, truck scales and related tools. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree, technical degree, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience preferred. 2+ years of leadership experience in logistics, shipping, warehousing, transportation, supply chain, manufacturing, or related operations. Proven ability to lead and develop hourly employees while driving accountability, performance, and safety. Strong working knowledge of shipping, transportation, warehouse, cross-dock, 3PL, LTL, supply chain, or manufacturing operations. Experience managing inventory accuracy through cycle counts, physical inventory, FIFO, and inventory control processes. Experience coordinating outbound shipments utilizing multiple transportation modes, including flatbeds, vans, railcars, containers, and/or export shipments. Ability to effectively collaborate with production, customer service, accounting, transportation providers, and other cross-functional stakeholders. Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, compliance, and sound decision-making. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook; experience with JDE or similar ERP systems preferred. Ability to work a primarily Monday through Friday daytime schedule while supporting a 24-hour, three-shift operation as business needs require. Compensation and Benefits As of the date of posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $75,000 to $85,000. Placement within the range depends on factors such as experience, skills, geography and internal equity and may change over time. This position may also be eligible to participate in a bonus plan.
