Job Summary Oversees daily warehouse floor operations, material handling, inventory control, and fleet dispatching. This hybrid role manages the physical movement of freight via forklift, leads dock team members, coordinates local driver routes, and enforces strict OSHA and DOT safety standards. Key Responsibilities Hands-On Material Handling & Warehouse Operations Safely operate forklifts and material-handling equipment to load, unload, stack, and stage incoming and outgoing freight. Load and unload trailers. Maintain a clean work environment, ensuring proper disposal of packing materials and hazardous waste in accordance with safety standards. Warehouse Supervision & Team Leadership Direct daily floor activities, assign tasks to warehouse personnel, and manage shift schedules. Enforce workplace safety protocols, lead toolbox talks, and ensure proper equipment maintenance and inspection logs. Monitor staff productivity, train new hires on forklift operation and dock workflows, and resolve operational bottlenecks. Coordinate incoming and outgoing freight schedules with facility management and external logistics partners. Trucking Dispatch & Logistics Coordination Help plan, schedule, and dispatch local driver routes to maximize fleet efficiency and meet delivery windows. Communicate directly with drivers, warehouse staff, and customers to provide real-time load updates and resolve transit delays. Coordinate dock door appointments, cross-docking logistics, and trailer staging to prevent yard congestion.
Qualifications & Skills Supervisory Experience:
Proven track record leading warehouse teams, managing workflows, and maintaining safety compliance.
Dispatch & Systems Knowledge:
Familiarity with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and route planning software.
Communication & Crisis Management:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise between drivers, dock workers, and management in a fast-paced setting.
Organization & Leadership:
Strong problem-solving skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to multitask under pressure.
