Job Description

Headquartered in Greater Cincinnati Ohio, LSI is a publicly held company traded on the NASDAQ Stock Exchange under the symbol LYTS. We manufacture commercial lighting solutions, advanced graphic and image solutions, digital and retail display solutions. We are looking for Shipping Lead to support our team at our corporate location in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Overview:
The Shipping lead, mentors, trains and coaches the Shipping Department to meet shipping deadlines in a timely, efficient and cost-effective manner while processing shipping documentation with accuracy and delegating workload to team members.
Responsibilities:
Meet company and departmental standards, including Customer Requirements, Compliance, Safety, Quality, etc. Maintain a schedule for the department and communicate the expected time to start and complete tasks Construct, implement and train Shipping team members on Shipping processes, procedures and workflows to increase efficiency and productivity Process shipments by company policies and best practices Ensure outgoing packages and skids are safe and secure for multiple transport methods. Label, organize and palletize cartons for small case packages, LTL. Produce required shipping documentation as required utilizing computer software. Documentation required will vary based on transportation method and country. Interpret and update customer specific requirements to ensure full compliance. Maintain accurate overstock inventory by performing cycle counts - reporting any inventory discrepancies. Answer shipping questions for internal and external customers. Follow directions and procedures while working in a fast paced, deadline oriented, physically demanding environment. Work cooperatively and independently within the shipping department as well as with other production departments. Participate in annual physical inventory as needed. Special projects or additional assigned task as requested. Shipping Lead will hold safety as a priority using best practices and ensuring that team members work safely using proper PPE and following company guidelines. Work with team members to keep the shipping floor clean and organized. Overtime hours are required occasionally.
Experience:
Shipping management: 3 years (Preferred) Position does have the opportunity to advance per required qualifications Minimum of 3 -5 years in a shipping lead capacity (clerk, freight handler, driver, etc.),Industrial Trucks (certification a plus), pallet jacks (manual and/or electric) and other material handling equipment or will train and certify Minimum of 3-5 years in a similar managerial position with direct reports
Skills/Qualifications:
Experience with FedEx Ship Manager and UPS Worldship, preferred. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Able to take direction and necessary action. Attention to detail and highly accurate. Innate sense of urgency, Deadline oriented, and Problem solver. Ability to occasionally move yard trailers between buildings maneuvering a 53 trailer in and out of dock bays. (No CDL required but a plus) Proficient knowledge of computers: Knowledge in JD Edwards ERP system is a plus Must be willing to be certified on all industrial equipment
