Job Description

Job Summary:
The Dock Operations Team Lead is responsible for coordinating daily dock activities to ensure the safe, efficient, and accurate movement of materials through inbound and outbound dock areas. This role supports loading and unloading operations, material staging, and dock flow while providing hands-on leadership to material handlers. The Team Lead works closely with warehouse, logistics, and production teams to ensure materials are received, staged, and delivered in alignment with operational and production requirements. This role supports general dock operations, coordinating both inbound and outbound material flow to ensure efficient movement of materials across dock areas.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead and coordinate daily dock operations including loading, unloading, and material staging activities Coordinate both inbound and outbound dock activities to ensure efficient material flow across dock operations Support balanced dock operations by managing material movement, staging, and trailer flow based on operational priorities Assign tasks and direct material handlers to ensure efficient dock flow and timely processing of shipments Ensure materials are received, verified, and staged accurately according to system and operational requirements Support outbound loading activities to ensure accuracy, proper sequencing, and shipment readiness Monitor dock activity, trailer flow, and staging areas to prevent congestion and delays Communicate with dock supervisor, warehouse, and logistics teams regarding shipment status, delays, and priorities Ensure proper use of scanning systems, documentation, and material tracking processes Conduct spot checks to verify material accuracy, labeling, and compliance with operational standards Enforce safety procedures, PPE requirements, and proper use of material handling equipment Promote and maintain 5S standards and organization within dock and staging areas Train and support material handlers on standard work, safety procedures, and operational expectations Assist with timekeeping, attendance tracking, and daily reporting as required Identify operational issues, inefficiencies, or risks and escalate to the Supervisor Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance dock efficiency and accuracy Support and maintain 5S standards within office, dock, and warehouse areas, ensuring organization, cleanliness, and adherence to standard work practices Follow and support all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and standard work practices while performing daily logistics and administrative activities Perform other duties as assigned to support company and department goals
Required Education, Training, & Experience :
High school diploma or GED required Minimum 3+ years of experience in warehouse, dock operations, logistics, or manufacturing environment Prior team lead or informal leadership experience preferred Experience with shipping, receiving, and material handling processes Familiarity with WMS systems (SAP preferred) Experience operating material handling equipment preferred Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Strong understanding of dock operations, material flow, and safety practices Ability to coordinate multiple activities in a fast-paced environment Strong communication skills to direct team members and escalate issues Ability to read and interpret shipment schedules, staging layouts, and material documentation Basic computer proficiency for scanning, reporting, and system updates Knowledge of 5S and standard work practices Strong organizational and problem-solving skills Ability to work effectively in a startup manufacturing environment #INDPRO
