Job Description

Yard Operations Coordinator Position Summary The Yard Operations Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the efficient day-to-day flow of the nursery yard. This position coordinates order preparation, oversees product organization, monitors plant quality, and manages loading logistics to ensure customers receive accurate, healthy, and well-prepared shipments. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable leading a team in a fast-paced outdoor environment. Key Responsibilities Coordinate daily yard operations and prioritize order fulfillment. Flag and identify plants and products for customer orders. Direct and assign yard crew members to efficiently pull, stage, and prepare orders. Ensure all orders are accurate, complete, and ready on schedule. Coordinate the loading of semi-trucks and other delivery vehicles to maximize efficiency and minimize damage. Inspect outgoing orders for quality, size, and overall presentation. Regularly monitor the health and condition of nursery inventory, identifying plants that need watering, treatment, pruning, or removal. Communicate inventory concerns, damaged material, and shortages to management. Maintain organized staging areas and ensure products are properly labeled. Work closely with the office staff to coordinate shipping schedules and customer pickups. Ensure safe forklift operation and adherence to all yard safety procedures. Assist with inventory organization and yard cleanliness. Help train and guide yard employees on proper handling, loading, and plant care practices. Perform other duties as assigned to support daily operations. Qualifications Previous nursery, landscaping, agriculture, or yard operations experience preferred. Strong leadership and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of plant identification and basic plant health is preferred (or willingness to learn). Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Forklift experience preferred. Strong communication skills with both office staff and yard personnel. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical labor throughout the day.
