Position Summary The Warehouse Supervisor oversees daily operations within a 3PL logistics warehouse specializing in heavy cargo, palletized freight, and multi‑client inventory. This role ensures safe handling of oversized and high‑weight materials, accurate inventory control, efficient inbound/outbound workflows, and compliance with customer SOPs. The Supervisor leads warehouse associates, coordinates with trucking and drayage teams, and maintains service‑level performance across all accounts. Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership Supervise daily warehouse activities including receiving, unloading, staging, put‑away, picking, packing, and outbound shipping. Assign labor based on workload, cargo type, and client requirements. Monitor productivity, workflow, and accuracy; resolve operational bottlenecks quickly. Ensure proper use of heavy‑duty equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, clamp trucks, and specialized lifting devices. Heavy Cargo & Material Handling Oversee safe handling of oversized, high‑weight, and non‑standard freight. Ensure proper rigging, strapping, blocking, and bracing for inbound and outbound cargo. Verify weight limits, load distribution, and equipment capacity before movement. Train staff on safe lifting techniques and heavy‑cargo procedures. 3PL‑Specific Responsibilities Manage operations for multiple clients, ensuring adherence to each customer's SOPs, KPIs, and service agreements. Coordinate inbound/outbound schedules with trucking, drayage, and transportation partners. Maintain accurate documentation for receiving, inventory adjustments, and outbound shipments. Support client audits, inventory reconciliations, and reporting requirements. Safety & Compliance Enforce OSHA standards, company policies, and heavy‑cargo safety protocols. Conduct daily equipment inspections and ensure operators are certified. Lead safety briefings, incident investigations, and corrective‑action plans. Maintain a clean, organized warehouse environment with proper hazard controls. Inventory Control & Quality Assurance Oversee cycle counts, reconciliations, and root‑cause analysis for inventory variances. Verify accuracy of inbound receipts, outbound orders, and cargo labeling. Ensure proper storage methods for heavy cargo, including racking, floor storage, and secure placement. People Management Train, coach, and evaluate warehouse associates; support onboarding of new hires. Manage timekeeping, attendance, performance, and disciplinary actions. Promote teamwork, accountability, and a high‑performance culture. Cross‑Functional Coordination Work closely with dispatch, transportation, customer service, and business development teams. Communicate cargo issues, delays, discrepancies, and operational updates to internal and external stakeholders. Support customer onboarding by aligning warehouse processes with client requirements. Qualifications 3-5 years of warehouse or distribution experience; 3PL experience strongly preferred. Experience handling heavy cargo, oversized freight, or industrial materials. 1-3 years of supervisory or lead experience. Proficiency with WMS platforms and RF scanning. Strong communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills. Forklift certification required or ability to obtain certification. Ability to work in a fast‑paced, multi‑client environment. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50-75 lbs depending on cargo type. Ability to stand, walk, and operate equipment for extended periods. Ability to work overtime or weekends based on customer volume.
