Position Summary The Pantry & Warehouse Manager provides direct supervision and day-to-day leadership for CEC's food pantry and warehouse operations. The Manager is responsible for ensuring that pantry services, warehouse activities, staff, and volunteers operate safely, efficiently, professionally, and in alignment with CEC's mission and service standards. The position supervises assigned employees, leads and supports volunteers, coordinates daily pantry and warehouse workflow, and serves as a visible representative of CEC to clients, donors, volunteers, community groups, and other stakeholders. The Manager is expected to create a positive and welcoming environment that reflects CEC's mission of transforming lives by restoring hope while maintaining strong operational, safety, inventory, and compliance standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Pantry & Warehouse Operations Manage daily food pantry and warehouse operations, including opening and closing activities, workflow, product movement, storage, staging, and distribution. Implement operational procedures, schedules, service standards, and priorities established by the Director of Food Operations & Logistics. Coordinate daily pantry service flow to support efficient and respectful client service. Monitor available inventory and communicate product needs, shortages, capacity concerns, and operational issues to the Director. Coordinate receiving, storage, rotation, staging, and distribution of food and other approved products. Maintain an organized, clean, safe, and efficient pantry and warehouse environment. Inventory, Safety & Compliance Ensure food is handled and stored in accordance with applicable food-safety requirements and CEC procedures. Maintain accurate inventory, receiving, donation, distribution, bill-of-lading, temperature, and other required operational records. Conduct routine inspections of inventory, storage areas, temperature logs, product condition, sanitation, and warehouse safety. Ensure proper product rotation, disposition of damaged or unsafe product, and adherence to established inventory-control procedures. Implement civil rights, food safety, warehouse safety, and other required operational standards. Staff & Volunteer Supervision Directly supervise assigned pantry and warehouse employees and provide day-to-day leadership for volunteers serving within pantry and warehouse operations. Train and direct employees and volunteers in food safety, warehouse procedures, client service, equipment use, operational expectations, and CEC service standards. Support volunteers throughout their service experience by helping them understand their role, addressing concerns, and creating meaningful opportunities to contribute to CEC's mission. Foster a positive, respectful, collaborative, and mission-driven environment that encourages volunteer engagement and reflects CEC's CALLED values. Address routine employee and volunteer concerns and escalate significant personnel or operational issues to the Director as appropriate. Data, Reporting & Operational Support Maintain accurate daily operational records and ensure required information is entered into applicable systems. Compile routine pantry, warehouse, inventory, volunteer, and service data for review by the Director of Food Operations & Logistics. Assist with routine operational audits, inventory reviews, and compliance documentation. Identify recurring workflow issues and recommend process improvements to the Director. Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervises assigned pantry and warehouse staff and coordinates volunteers working within pantry and warehouse operations. Responsibilities include training, scheduling, assigning and directing work, monitoring performance, providing coaching and feedback, addressing routine concerns, and escalating significant personnel matters to the Director of Food Operations & Logistics. Qualifications Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree in logistics, business, operations, supply chain, or a related field preferred. Minimum of two years of experience in warehousing, grocery, food distribution, logistics, inventory, or a related operational environment. Previous supervisory or team-lead experience preferred. Experience working with volunteers or in a nonprofit food-distribution environment preferred. Certifications Food-handler or applicable food-safety certification required within 30 days of hire. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or comparable continuous-improvement training required within 90 days of hire. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of warehouse, inventory, food-handling, and distribution practices. Ability to supervise employees and coordinate volunteers in a fast-paced operating environment. Strong organizational, scheduling, recordkeeping, and problem-solving skills. Ability to follow and enforce procedures while identifying operational concerns and improvement opportunities. Effective interpersonal and communication skills with employees, volunteers, clients, vendors, and community partners. Ability to compile and maintain accurate operational records and reports. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to use applicable inventory, database, and reporting systems. Work Environment The position operates primarily in pantry and warehouse environments and may include loading areas, vehicles, office spaces, and outdoor environments. Noise levels and temperatures may vary, and occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions is expected. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, bend, reach, speak, and hear and must be able to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
