Starcorr Sheets, an affiliate of Schwarz Partners, is currently seeking a Shipping Lead (3rd Shift) to support our facility Temple, TX. This position coordinates and directs forklift operators, schedules truck drivers runs, and manages all aspects of assigning work on shift. Ensure all orders being received are correct and ready to be shipped. Assist in monitoring shipping cost, MSF/Trailer and on-time deliveries.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION
Works with supervisor to ensure all company and safety policies are followed on shift. Coordinates work assignments of lift drivers and hostlers for incoming and outgoing shipments. Stage orders for the next day. Maintain BOLS and email to proper person. Fills out Dispatch sheets Adds and cancels loads when needed. Receive orders off of the corrugator and constantly reviews orders. Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications. Provide coaching and direction to the lift drivers and hostlers. Identify problems, concerns, and opportunities for improvement. Create and maintain a safe working environment and clean warehouse. Covers any shift as needed for vacation coverage etc. Fills in when/if needed on a lift and as a hostler. Regular and predictable attendance. Develop strong rapport with various freight line representatives and drivers Communicate with upper management regarding problems or situations that may affect the performance of the Shipping Department, and identify and carry out strategies to solve those problems and situations. Communicate with necessary supervision to avoid problems between shift changes. Comply with company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations. Supervisory Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; conflict resolution; team building; coaching and leading employees to improve; and setting an example of superior behavior, attitude and performance. Additional duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED. Two years experience as a Forklift Operator and/or Truck Driver. One year shipping experience.
PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Related technical experience. Two years experience in the corrugated industry.
REQUIRED SKILLS
(TECHNICAL, CLERICAL, LANGUAGE, ETC.): Ability to understand, design and operate equipment in a way that can be translated into efficient operation and that supports the leads role of teacher and trainer for his/her personnel. Ability to understand and implement quality standards. Experience with excel and Microsoft Office. Ability to speak and understand English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Ability to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate. Ability to apply concepts of high school math.
