Roberts Oxygen , a trusted name in industrial, medical, and specialty gases and equipment, is looking for a dedicated Distribution Supervisor to join our team in Portsmouth, VA. As a Distribution Supervisor, you'll be a key player in providing safe, timely, and accurate deliveries—while building great relationships with customers and working closely with our internal production teams. You will utilize planning, coordination and supervisory skills to develop of drivers through daily coaching on the plant docks and in trucks. We will look to you for assistance with or back-up driving coverage as applicable for the Distribution department (routing, dispatching, scheduling, maintenance and roadside service) and Inside Sales. Requirements What makes you stand out? You're a reliable and experienced CDL driver who thrives in physically active roles and takes pride in delivering exceptional service. Your sound leadership and management skills promote a positive work environment where drivers and customers count on you for timely route dispatching and problem solving. You have working knowledge cryogenics, DOT, and FMCSA regulations. You are team oriented and a self-started who values safety, accuracy, and professionalism.
Responsibilities and requirements:
Class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements AND 2 years of driving experience 2 years of supervisory experience managing a team of 5 or more drivers Safely operate company truck and equipment High School degree required; Bachelor degree in Business Management or related field preferred 1 year experience in a sales or customer interaction environment required. Experience in a purchasing function Experience in a distribution supervisory/routing/dispatch function Experience in a compressed gas cylinder filling production function Strong computer skills and proficient in a Microsoft Office environment, specifically using MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is preferred Ability to apply basic mathematical operation principles Excellent writing, communication and media presentation skills Must be comfortable communicating publicly and directly interacting with people in various environments Process analysis and strong decision-making abilities Ability to lift 75 lbs. Excellent driving record and if selected, ability to pass pre-employment screenings Benefits What's in it for you?
