About the Role We are seeking an experienced Logistics Supervisor to provide day-to-day leadership and operational support for a busy transportation and dispatch team. This role is ideal for someone with experience in dispatch, transportation, logistics, shipment coordination, and team supervision. The Logistics Supervisor will oversee workflow, support dispatch operations, ensure accurate system documentation, coordinate with carriers, and help keep transportation operations running efficiently. Key Responsibilities Provide daily supervision and guidance to dispatch and logistics staff. Manage workflow and task execution during the assigned shift. Serve as the first-line supervisor for designated dispatch employees. Monitor and verify accurate entries in the TMS/TruckMate system. Maintain accurate transportation records, documentation, and supporting paperwork. Coordinate transportation and dispatch activities with carriers and internal operations teams. Respond to urgent and routine transportation requests and dispatch appropriate resources. Maintain communication with drivers, carriers, and operational teams throughout the transportation process. Assist with shipment tracking, load processing, and other dispatch-related needs. Identify errors or operational issues and take appropriate corrective action. Provide coaching, guidance, and support to employees. Help resolve employee, carrier, and operational concerns in a professional manner. Provide shift coverage when necessary to maintain uninterrupted operations. Support management with additional logistics and dispatch responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications Required:
2-4 years of directly related experience in logistics, transportation, dispatch, distribution, or a similar environment. Previous leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience strongly preferred. Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) used for load processing, shipment tracking, or transportation operations. Understanding of DOT regulations, vehicle weight capacity, and load specifications. Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills. Ability to identify errors, determine causes, and implement appropriate corrections. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and changing environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and related applications. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with employees, carriers, customers, and management. Ability to lead and support a diverse workforce. Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and additional shifts when operationally necessary.
Preferred:
Experience with TruckMate, PC•Miler, Fleetmatics, Roadnet, or similar transportation software. Experience in a warehouse, distribution center, 3PL, transportation, or freight environment. Bilingual communication skills. Advanced coursework in logistics, transportation, data processing, business, or a related field. Education High School Diploma or GED required. Additional education or relevant professional experience in logistics, transportation, data processing, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and directly related experience may be considered. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Ability to walk throughout a warehouse or distribution center. Ability to climb stairs. Ability to work in a distribution center environment with varying temperatures. Ideal Candidate You may be a strong fit if you have experience as a Logistics Supervisor, Dispatch Supervisor, Transportation Supervisor, Dispatch Lead, Logistics Coordinator, Transportation Coordinator, or Warehouse Logistics Lead and are comfortable supervising employees while remaining hands-on with daily dispatch operations.
