Job Summary We're looking for a self-motivated individual who is personable, organized, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. The Yard Foreman is responsible for the organized flow of customer vehicles through the retail yard and organized flow of company and supplier vehicles through the distribution yard. Working with the Customer Service Forklift drivers to assist in prioritizing loadings, checking correct product quantity as well as quality is loaded, and helping to facilitate a top-notch customer experience. Working with the Distribution Load Builders and Operators to maintain a high level of throughput for company and supplier trucks. Help to maintain the equipment by ensuring all yard operators fill out a daily forklift checklist. Ensuring fast moving yard items are stocked and rotated, basic inventory counts, and other miscellaneous yard oversight activities are also handled daily. This is a full-time position Monday through Friday, 5 days per week, with an occasional Saturday as needed. You are You are outgoing, friendly, and a skilled communicator. You have the skills to work together with your coworkers unselfishly and for the common good. The lumber and building world interests you, and you enjoy working in a team environment. A calming influence in the face of chaos with an ever-watchful eye on safety would describe your demeanor. Responsibilities Secondary leadership role in yard operations team helping to keep the team focused and on task, reporting directly to the Yard Manager Oversee the completion of the daily forklift checklist by all yard operators Work closely with the Yard Manager to facilitate the efficient use of horsepower (people and equipment) in order to maintain a positive customer experience Maintain company standards for all WMS location license plates Assign general yard cleaning, restocking, and inventory duties to yard crew as needed Ensure that all operators follow a spotting protocol when loading material into the back of a customer's vehicle while under power Be part of the new yard employee evaluation in conjunction with the Yard Manager Ensure proper safety protocol is followed by all Chinook employees while in the yard Qualifications Candidates for this position must have excellent people skills, be service oriented and committed to safety. Must be willing to work outside, can withstand the elements, and be willing to work in the hot sun and cold rain. Experience in the construction or building products industry required. Experience with a forklift is also a plus. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
