Job Description

Position Summary The Yard Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the yard, ensuring efficient flow of equipment, trailers, and drivers while maintaining accurate inventory and administrative records. This role serves as a key point of communication between customers, drivers, and operations personnel, helping to ensure safe, organized, and productive yard operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong logistics background, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in both office and outdoor environments. Key ResponsibilitiesYard Operations Manage and control the daily flow of traffic, equipment, and personnel throughout the yard. Provide direction and support to drivers, yard personnel, and operational staff. Assist with daily yard operations to ensure efficient loading, unloading, and movement of equipment. Monitor yard conditions and recommend improvements to yard layout, organization, and traffic flow. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized working environment. Logistics & Driver Management Track and monitor driver locations and movements using Samsara and other transportation management tools. Coordinate with dispatch, drivers, and operations teams to ensure on-time movement of equipment and freight. Assist in resolving operational issues and bottlenecks affecting yard efficiency. Support transportation planning and logistics activities as needed. Flatbed transportation experience is preferred. Inventory & Asset Control Maintain accurate inventory records for equipment, supplies, and operational materials. Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies. Ensure proper stock levels are maintained for both office and operational supplies. Coordinate purchasing and replenishment of required materials. Administrative Duties Perform data entry and maintain accurate operational records. Manage email communications with customers, drivers, vendors, and internal teams. Prepare reports and documentation as required. Ensure all records are maintained accurately and in a timely manner. Customer Service Serve as a primary point of contact for customers regarding yard activity and operations. Maintain professional and effective communication with customers. Address customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly. Build and maintain positive customer relationships. QualificationsRequired Previous logistics, transportation, or supply chain experience. Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Experience with data entry and administrative functions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and email communication. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Flatbed transportation experience. Experience using Samsara or similar fleet management/GPS tracking platforms. Previous yard management, dispatch, or transportation operations experience. Forklift and/or heavy equipment experience (if applicable). Physical Requirements Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to walk the yard frequently throughout the day. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to stand, bend, and move throughout the workday as needed.
