This position performs a variety of general labor and ground-support duties as assigned by Cargo/Logistics or company supervision. The Cargo/Logistics Laborer will work inside Cargo/Logistics security gates and in active Cargo/Logistics operating areas, including outdoor locations exposed to snow, ice, wind, rain, and extreme cold. The successful candidate must be comfortable working outdoors in demanding weather conditions and around aircraft, vehicles, equipment, and other Cargo/Logistics operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Cargo/Logistics Laborer may be responsible for a wide variety of general labor and Cargo/Logistics-support tasks, including but not limited to: Perform general labor duties as assigned by supervisors or Cargo/Logistics operations personnel. Work within secured, restricted-access Cargo/Logistics areas while following all Cargo/Logistics security requirements. Load, unload, move, stage, and organize materials, supplies, equipment, tools, and other items. Assist with snow, ice, debris, and other surface-cleaning activities. Perform shoveling, sweeping, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and other physical labor. Assist with maintaining clean, safe, and orderly work areas. Operate hand tools and other basic equipment as trained and authorized. Assist skilled employees, mechanics, operators, maintenance personnel, and other Cargo/Logistics personnel with assigned work. Move equipment and materials between designated locations. Assist with setup, teardown, and movement of equipment or work areas. Perform basic grounds and facility maintenance tasks. Identify and report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, spills, debris, or other hazards to supervision. Follow instructions regarding aircraft and vehicle movement areas and maintain situational awareness at all times.
COLD WEATHER & OUTDOOR WORK
This position requires regular work outdoors in Anchorage's cold and changing weather conditions. Employees must be prepared to work in conditions that may include: S ub-freezing temperatures Snow and blowing snow Ice and slippery surfaces Strong winds Rain and wet conditions Limited daylight during portions of the year Rapid changes in weather conditions
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to pass Fit for Duty Test and Drug Screen Able to lift 50 lbs. Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb. Lift and carry materials and equipment. Push and pull carts, equipment, and materials. Shovel snow, ice, dirt, debris, and other materials.
