We're constantly on the lookout for hardworking individuals who take the initiative to encourage others to greatness. A Laborer carries out manual tasks which contribute to the success of the project for their professional specialty (road, pipelines, rail, etc.) in observance of the safety guidelines. Main Responsibilities Cleaning and preparing the construction site and pavement surfaces. Keep equipment and tools in good working condition. Shovel asphalt and other materials Luting / raking asphalt and aggregates Set-up and take down temporary work zones efficiently Optimal traffic control in and around work zones (flagging) crafting a safe environment for traffic and onsite workers Assist in backing and dumping of tri-axles and milling machines Handling of hot liquid asphalt and various materials Remove old asphalt, concrete and other materials using a jackhammer or cut-off saw Erect and remove delineating devices such as barrels and cones Seal end joints Help fill water tanks on equipment as needed Compact material with small hand rollers and vibratory plates Perform other tasks as assigned Education High School diploma/GED Skills Valid Driver's License and excellent driving record Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) Follow all DOT and company safety regulations Environment Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE), as required. Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear) Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain Frequent exposure to loud noise Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles Colas Inc. and its subsidiaries are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
