General Laborer

Job Title:

General Laborer Job Description We are seeking a diligent General Laborer capable of reading and comprehending Chapel Steel work orders and accurately filling them out. The role involves loading and unloading trucks in a warehouse setting, and effectively using tools such as tape measures and calipers. Responsibilities Read and understand all paperwork, including Mill Bills of Lading and Chapel Steel work orders. Load and unload incoming trucks using chains, plate hooks, and magnets. Inspect and color code all incoming loads to ensure inventory accuracy. Pick and package orders safely while adhering to safety rules and procedures. Perform miscellaneous duties as necessary. Essential Skills Proficiency in using tape measures, calipers, and other related tools. Experience in general labor, inventory management, material handling, order picking, and unloading. Computer literacy and the ability to stand/walk for 90% of the work shift. Capability to lift up to 30 lbs when required. Ability to function in adverse climate conditions, including heat and cold. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in industrial warehouse work, heavy lifting, measuring, and cutting. Why Work Here? Work Environment The work environment is a non-climate-controlled industrial warehouse that stores and ships steel. It involves transporting materials, parts, or equipment, requiring skill and care in moving loads to prevent excessive swinging and detecting faulty slinging. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Birmingham, AL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
