Monarch Steel Company of Alabama, Inc. has immediate full-time positions available starting at $18/HR + $1.25/HR Shift Differential on Nights! Current openings are on 3rd Shift (8pm-6:30am Sunday-Wednesday, 8pm-4:30am Thursday) We offer a competitive benefit package and the opportunity to work in a drug-free and safe work environment.

Position Summary Under the guidance of our Operations Supervisor or Team Lead, the Material Handlers is responsible for moving steel throughout our service center. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Embraces the 1 T.E.A.M. culture Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work and in accordance with Safety Policy and OSHA standards. Maintain a safe and healthful work environment by practicing safe work habits, good housekeeping procedures and adhering to safety guidelines. Operate forklift and/or overhead cranes to transport material within service center in a safe and reliable manner from trucks, facility, etc. Receive material into computer system. Move product to storage areas with proper equipment and efficiently stack and store in appropriate area Maneuver material handling equipment safely and efficiently through limited space areas Stock and rotate materials as necessary Verify counts and product shipped and/or received Stage material for sales and production orders Report all equipment failures to immediate supervisor Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities:
N/A Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Operate assigned equipment in a safe, effective and efficient manner Plan and prioritize workload Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow processes and procedures Work independently and as part of a team Communicate and interact with team members at all levels of the company Education Requirements High School diploma or equivalent, preferred Licenses/Designations and Certifications Licensed to operate a forklift and/or crane Physical Demands and Work Environment The noise level in the work environment is usually medium to high. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
