Job Description
Gathers materials and tools for overhead, underground and maintenance crews. Issues materials to crews according to work order requirements. Assists in receiving and shipping materials. Unloads material, equipment and transformers from freight trucks. Keeps loading dock and warehouse clean. Separates usable material and returns it to stock. Responsible for restocking inventory in correct location. Fills in for Storekeeper when required. Stores materials and tools in correct location and restocks inventory. Collects materials as specified on work orders and issues to crews. Assists in receiving and shipping materials. Delivers materials to crews at job site. Examines returned material, separates usable material and returns it to stock. Tests and repairs security lights. Assists in taking physical inventory and provides accurate account of materials. Checks quantity of fuels received and stands by while tanks are filled. Picks up materials from local vendors and does errands. Unloads material, equipment and transformers. Keeps warehouse, loading dock and yard areas clean and orderly. Pumps fuel in vehicles in absence of garage personnel. Fills in for Storekeeper when required. Works after hours during emergencies to issue materials to crews. Monitors materials monthly to determine if properly requisitioned. Disposes of scrap material and equipment. Picks up bulk mail at post office and delivers it to the Municipal Building. Performs other duties as assigned. High school graduate or GED. Two years work experience in similar or related job preferred. Valid Commercial Class "A" Driver's License or must obtain CDL within six months of employment. Basic knowledge and use of materials for overhead and underground construction and maintenance. Knowledge of material location and code names. General knowledge of REA units. Thorough knowledge of Lauderdale County. Thorough knowledge of computer inventory printout and its application. Ability to monitor materials and determine if properly requisitioned. Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision. Knowledge and ability to perform minor repairs on tools, materials and fixtures. Ability to safely operate pickup truck, dump truck, forklift and other equipment required to perform work. Ability to fill out requisitions for material and tools. Ability to maintain good public and employee relations. Must be able to work overtime when required. Ability to operate personal computer to input and access inventory data. Must live within 30 miles of Electricity Department Warehouse. Physical Demands (with or without accommodations): Must be able to stoop, bend, climb ladders, stand on concrete floor for extended time and lift up to 100 lbs. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Must be able to drive vehicles.
