This role ensures high-quality production, strict adherence to safety protocols, and efficient material handling within a fast-paced industrial warehouse environment.Key Responsibilities Safety Adherence:
Maintain a clean work area and strictly follow OSHA guidelines, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).Machine Operation:
Set up, adjust, and operate industrial band saws and powered conveyor.Material Handling:
Load and unload heavy steel pieces (bars, tubes, structurals) onto saw tables using overhead cranes, forklifts, or side-loaders. Assist with warehouse organization, cleanliness and safety checks. Load and offload trucks and stow materials as time allows.Precision Measurement:
Read and understand cut nesting sheets, miter cut plans and drawings to determine cutting layouts. Measure cuts precisely using micrometers, calipers, and tape measures.Quality Control:
Inspect finished cuts for burrs, defects, and tolerance limits. Deburr and smooth rough edges using hand tools or grinders.Inventory & Staging:
Label, tag, and palletize cut materials accurately. Move completed orders to staging areas for shipping. Coordinate with the warehouse regarding the putaway of remnantsMaintenance:
Perform routine daily maintenance on equipment, including checking fluid levels, replacing worn saw blades, and clearing scrap metal shavings.Marking:
Identify and mark material with proper shipper number, tag and heat.Required Qualifications & Skills Experience:
1-3 years of experience operating production saws in a steel service center or manufacturing plant. 1-2 years of forklift experienceEquipment Skills:
Proficiency operating overhead cranes, jib cranes, and forklifts (certification preferred).Technical Literacy:
Ability to read tape measures down to 1/16" (or decimal/metric equivalents), calipers & micrometer, and interpret blueprints or shop drawings.Mathematical Skill:
Strong basic math skills, including working with fractions and decimals.Physical Stamina:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and stand for long periods in a non-climate-controlled warehouse and outdoor environment. Attention toDetail:
High focus on accuracy to minimize material waste and meet strict customer tolerances. Preferred Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent. Experience operating a Marvel 2125A-PC35 and/ or Amada VT 50635 or equivalent.
