This is where YOU fit in: the Navy Exchange is in need of a Warehouse Worker to answer the call; a team player who is dedicated to supporting our local Naval community, and operational successes on a day to day basis. You will perform a variety of tasks which involve the receiving, storing, and inventory within the vending warehouse backroom for all of the Navy Exchange Vending team. Your work will make an impact and support how our organization serves the best customer - our Military patrons and their families. So, what does a typical day look like? What does it take to succeed?

• Unloads loads vehicles checks incoming shipments for spoilage or damage or shortages
• Receives invoice from vendor on merchandise ordered checks against report of goods received to ensure items and quantity ordered are received.
• Pulls merchandise in accordance with established procedures for shipment, transfers or customer orders as directed by system or supervisor. Verifies information shown on respective documents against information on merchandise or labels.
• Works indoor and/or outdoors, which may be cold, drafty, damp and/or hot.

Work is performed in close quarters in storage areas or bin aisles, ramps or on platforms.

The Qualifiers:

Twelve months experience performing warehousing related duties, such as receiving, storing, issuing, shipping, etc. or similar work that provided the knowledge and skills to perform the duties of the position.

• Performs work on a hard surface and in work areas that require you to walk, stoop, bend, and stand for a long period of time. May lift and carry boxes weighing up to 50 lbs and sometimes over 50lbs with assistance. Uses push cart to transport merchandise.
• Climbs ladder to pull stock, stock shelves and bins. Uses sharp instrument to break open boxes.
• Must be able to pass appropriate background checks needed for the specific area of responsibility e.

PHYSICAL EFFORT

Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing stooping bending and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Is required to lift up to 100 lbs. with assistance and carry short distances heavier material will be transported by forklift equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed indoors and outdoors. The area may be cold drafty damp or hot. Is exposed to the possibility of injury such as exposure to cuts bruises lacerations from falling or dropping stock from handling materials and from mechanical equipment.

TRAINING REQUIREMENT

Associate must receive Hazardous Material HazMat training within 90 days of hire per Department of Transportation regulations. May be required to obtain and maintain a forklift license.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE

Twelve months experience performing warehousing related duties such as receiving storing issuing shipping etc. or similar work that provided the knowledge and skills to perform the duties of the position.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE

One year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of experience up to a High School Diploma or GED for 12 months of experience.
