WHAT DOES A MATERIAL HANDLER DO?
As a Full-Time Material Handler at PTI Technologies in Oxnard, CA, you will play a crucial role in our aerospace manufacturing process. This position involves operating a forklift and driving a truck to deliver both production and non-production materials. You'll be responsible for stocking shelves, pulling kits, and filling orders while maintaining accurate records and logs. Your duties will include reading work orders to identify materials, performing inventory transactions on a PC, and ensuring safe loading and unloading of materials. Additionally, you'll secure loads, convey materials to designated areas, and conduct cycle counts to verify on-hand inventory balances. Your role encompasses packaging end items according to customer specifications and maintaining a clean work environment. This position is integral to our commitment to excellence, safety, and integrity within a high-performance culture.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR IN A MATERIAL HANDLER
To thrive as a Full-Time Material Handler at PTI Technologies, candidates must possess a combination of practical skills and relevant experience. A high school diploma or GED, along with one to three years of related experience or training, is essential. Proficiency in reading and comprehending detailed instructions and memos is crucial, as is the ability to communicate effectively with team members and customers. Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, and multiplication, are necessary for handling inventory effectively. Strong reasoning abilities will help in understanding instructions and solving problems that may arise in standardized situations. Physically, the role demands the capacity to lift and move materials, frequently up to 25 pounds, and work in environments that may include wet conditions or mechanical hazards. Familiarity with operating forklifts and using software for inventory management will greatly enhance job performance and contribute to a successful career in this position.
