This role involves operating various heavy equipment, handling recyclable and waste materials, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The ideal candidate will play a vital part in maintaining efficient recycling operations, landfill management, and waste disposal processes. Responsibilities Operate material handling equipment such as loaders, excavators, forklifts, front loader trucks, roll-off trucks, and garbage trucks to load, unload, and transport recyclable materials and waste. Manage the collection, sorting, and processing of recyclable materials in accordance with environmental compliance standards. Perform routine inspections and maintenance on heavy equipment to ensure safe operation. Follow safety protocols and utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) consistently during all tasks. Assist with landfill management activities including site cleanup, waste compaction, and environmental monitoring. Handle hazardous materials regulations by identifying, segregating, and disposing of hazardous waste safely. Maintain cleanliness of work areas through regular cleaning and sanitation procedures. Support recycling initiatives by sorting materials accurately and ensuring proper storage. Adhere to safety regulations related to heavy equipment operation, material handling, and outdoor work environments. Collaborate with team members to optimize operational efficiency and uphold environmental standards. Experience Prior experience operating heavy machinery such as loaders, excavators, forklifts, or garbage trucks is highly desirable. Knowledge of solid waste management practices, landfill operations, and recyclable materials handling. Familiarity with safety regulations related to hazardous materials and heavy equipment operation. Experience working outdoors in varying weather conditions is preferred. Mechanical knowledge or background in manufacturing can be advantageous for equipment maintenance tasks. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently while maintaining attention to safety protocols. Strong understanding of environmental compliance standards related to recycling and waste disposal.
