Job Description
The Lumber Yard Associate supports all functions of operating a Full-Service Lumber Yard. This includes providing exceptional customer service to everyone that visits the yard, loading and unloading customer and delivery vehicles, staging deliveries to go out, filling propane and supporting the cycle count process. Other responsibilities may be assigned and additional training provided over time. Responsibilities specific to the
Lumber Yard Associate:
Communicate with Dispatcher or Direct Supervisor to determine work assignments and material or equipment needs at the start of every shift. Stock material in from storage areas, load and unload delivery vehicles and freight containers by hand or using a forklift. Ensures yard is continually clean and maintained and that materials are stored properly, including covering those materials as required. Ensures that inventory and supplies are organized in the warehouse and yard. Responsibilities of everyAssociate:
Enthusiasm to greet customers anywhere on the property. Maintain a positive, productive work environment through friendly, respectful relationships with customers & co-workers. Execution of daily operational duties including: product organization, store cleanliness and inventory cycle counts. Keep all machinery, equipment, and tools clean and in good working order for safe usage. Reports all issues regarding safety, waste, damage, equipment, accidents or customer concerns promptly to a member of Management. Informs Operations Manager promptly of suspected inventory shortage.Requirements and Qualifications:
Knowledge of building materials and supplies Ability to pass company administered Forklift Driver Certification and safely operate a forklift Must be able to safely operate equipment in all types of weather conditions. Good organizational skills and ability to multi-task Dependable with high attention to detail Work under extreme heat or cold weather conditions. Work safely around moving trucks and moving machinery/equipment Work environment is frequently loud. Able to lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly. Work a flexible schedule that includes weekends.
