Job Description

The Receiving & Warehouse Associate supports the daily operations of the ReStore by managing donation intake, processing, warehouse organization, and customer interactions. This role ensures that all donated goods are received, handled, and prepared efficiently to support retail sales and overall store performance. This position plays a key role in maintaining operational flow from donation to sales floor while contributing to a safe, organized, and customer-friendly environment. The Receiving & Warehouse Associate also supports volunteer engagement and helps ensure a positive donor and volunteer experience aligned with Habitat's mission. Core Areas of Responsibility 1. Donation Intake & Processing Greet donors and provide excellent customer service at donation drop-off Assist with unloading donations safely and efficiently Evaluate donations based on established acceptance guidelines Clean, test, and prepare items for pricing and sale Ensure proper documentation and offer donation receipts 2. Warehouse Operations & Organization Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and receiving area Assist with loading and unloading ReStore trucks Move merchandise efficiently between receiving, storage, and sales floor Support inventory flow to maximize sales readiness and turnover Dispose of unsellable items according to procedures 3. Customer Service & Sales Support Assist customers and donors with questions and purchases Answer phones and provide accurate information Support overall store operations as needed Maintain a positive and professional presence on the sales floor 4. Volunteer Support & Engagement Assist in onboarding and guiding volunteers in receiving and warehouse tasks Provide clear instructions, supervision, and support to volunteers Ensure volunteers are working safely and productively Foster a welcoming and mission-driven volunteer experience Communicate volunteer needs or concerns to supervisors 5. Safety & Compliance Follow all safety procedures and participate in required training Maintain awareness of proper lifting, handling, and equipment use Ensure compliance with organizational policies and operational standards 6. Communication & Team Collaboration Communicate effectively with staff, supervisors, and volunteers Report customer or donor concerns to management promptly Support a positive and collaborative team environment Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Success in this role will be measured by:

Timely intake, sorting, and preparation of donations for the sales floor

ReStore Staff Volunteers Store Leadership Team Qualifications & Skills Required Strong customer service and communication skills Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically active environment Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Ability to lift 50-100 lbs (team lift as needed) Valid Driver's License and ability to pass a background check Preferred Retail or warehouse experience Nonprofit experience Familiarity with donation-based retail environments Work Environment & Expectations Part-time or full-time (up to 35 hours/week) Physically demanding role including lifting, standing, bending, and moving inventory Warehouse and retail environment Flexible schedule based on donation flow and store needs
