About our organization: At the Palm Beach County Food Bank (PBCFB), we are guided by our mission to nourish our neighbors and improve their lives one meal at a time, ensuring that no one in our community goes hungry. PBCFB rescues and mobilizes food donations from local farmers, food distributors, retailers, and restaurants. The rescued food is allocated to our vast network of over 200 social service agencies, helping address food insecurity in the county. PBCFB is strongly committed to the nutritional success of children, seniors, and families.
Job Summary:
The Warehouse Associate plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the Palm Beach County Food Bank's warehouse and volunteer center. The Warehouse Associate is responsible for maintaining the warehouse, supporting volunteer activities, and ensuring proper handling, storage, and movement of food inventory. This position works closely with the Volunteer Coordinator and Director of Programs to coordinate volunteer sessions and manage inventory levels, ensuring an organized and efficient environment for food packing and distribution.
Responsibilities:
Volunteer Support
  • Assists the Volunteer Coordinator in preparing the volunteer center for daily activities.
  • Supports volunteer sessions by ensuring materials and food items are available and accessible. Food designated for packing will be transported from the warehouse to the volunteer center.
  • Retrieves packed food pallets from the volunteer center and properly stores them in the designated racking area.
  • Restocks volunteer packing stations as needed.
  • Covers for the Volunteer Coordinator during absences or breaks. Warehouse Operations
  • Receives incoming orders and rack items appropriately.
  • Ensures the warehouse is clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
  • Maintains accurate inventory records and assists with inventory tracking.
  • Maintains equipment and reports any issues or maintenance needs promptly.
  • Operates pallet jacks and forklifts.
  • Duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required; higher education is a plus.
  • 1+ experience in warehouse operations.
  • Proficiency in operating pallet jacks and forklifts is required.
  • Proficiency in operating a standup forklift is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy items regularly.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Keen ability to relate effectively to other staff, volunteers, agency representatives, and the general public.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of the team.
Physical Requirements With or without reasonable accommodation, employees in this position must be able to balance, kneel, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, talk, see, and perform repetitive motions. This is a physically demanding position requiring the employee to lift up to 50 lbs. and operate machinery (forklifts and pallet jacks).
Schedule:
Monday
  • Thursday 8:00AM
  • 4:30 PM and Fridays 8:30 AM
  • 1:00 PM;
Saturday:
8:30 AM to 1:00 PM (twice per month) May require some evenings and additional weekend work depending on community events.
