General Laborer Job Description This position supports construction and site development projects by assisting crews with a wide range of tasks to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. You will perform hands-on labor, support equipment operators and skilled trades, and help maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site. Responsibilities Perform general labor duties such as site cleanup, debris removal, and maintaining an orderly work area. Handle materials by loading, unloading, staging, and moving supplies and equipment around the job site. Assist heavy equipment operators and skilled trades professionals as needed to support ongoing construction activities. Prepare job site areas by setting up work zones, organizing tools, and ensuring materials are ready for use. Use basic hand and power tools safely and correctly to complete assigned tasks. Support concrete work, packaging, and loading tasks as required by the project. Measure and mark materials using tape measures or other basic measuring tools when directed. Perform heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks while following safe lifting techniques. Follow all safety standards, procedures, and instructions to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including tools, equipment, and common areas. Work cooperatively with team members, contributing to a positive and productive crew environment. Assist with basic carpentry, landscaping, and other general construction activities as assigned. Essential Skills Experience performing general labor tasks in construction or similar environments, preferred but not required. Ability to perform site cleanup, debris removal, and general housekeeping on active job sites. Proficiency using basic hand tools and power tools safely and effectively. Capability to perform heavy lifting and physically demanding work for extended periods. Strong safety awareness and willingness to follow all safety policies and procedures. Basic material handling skills, including loading, unloading, and staging materials. Ability to read and use a tape measure for basic measurements when needed. Reliable transportation to travel to various job sites as scheduled. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, and inclement weather. Strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to learn new tasks and skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a crew-based environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous construction or general labor experience is preferred but not required for motivated candidates. Familiarity with concrete work, packaging, loading, or similar tasks is an asset. Experience with forklifts or other material handling equipment is a plus. Exposure to carpentry, landscaping, or related trades is beneficial. OSHA 10 certification is a plus and demonstrates a strong commitment to safety. Comfort working on roadwork, site development, or utility projects is advantageous. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Buckhannon, WV. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
