Job Description

JOB PURPOSE
The Construction Supply Store Clerk / Delivery Driver is responsible for supporting daily retail operations while ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of materials to job sites and customers. This role combines customer service, inventory management, and safe transportation of construction supplies. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in both a warehouse/storefront and driving environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Store Operations & Customer Service Greet and assist customers in selecting construction materials, tools, and supplies Process sales transactions accurately using point-of-sale (POS) systems Answer customer inquiries regarding products, pricing, and availability Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked sales floor and warehouse Receive, inspect, and stock incoming inventory Inventory & Warehouse Support Pull and stage orders for customer pickup and delivery Conduct regular inventory counts and report discrepancies Load and unload materials using forklifts or other equipment (if certified) Ensure proper storage and handling of materials to prevent damage Delivery Duties Safely operate company vehicles to deliver materials to job sites and customers Load, secure, and transport materials to prevent shifting or damage Verify delivery contents with customers and obtain signatures as needed Follow delivery schedules and communicate delays or issues promptly Perform routine vehicle inspections and report maintenance needs
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS IN ORDER TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Sit/walk - up to 8-hour shift in a store and warehouse setting Ability to spend an extended period working in a standing position Bend/stoop/twist - often Lift 25lbs frequently Good vision and hearing
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS IN ORDER TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Comprehend reasonable instructions, written or oral, and plan steps to carry out essential functions with minimal supervision
QUALIFICATIONS IN ORDER TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
High school degree Proven working experience as a Delivery Driver Valid DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate (medical card) required to operate delivery vehicles Ability to operate forklifts and tractors in a variety of weather and traffic conditions Excellent organizational and time management skills Good driving record with no traffic violations Prior customer service and/or construction experience preferred Punctuality and accountability when arriving at work and closing out cash registers nightly Attention to detail is essential for building and stocking displays to company standards Friendly and approachable demeanor Ability to work in a group and contribute to a smoothly flowing experience for all customers A detailed understanding of products or services solid and the ability to correctly answer customer questions as needed Ability to multitask and balance the needs of several customers at once is mandatory Basic math skills are needed to accurately close out transactions and provide change to customers
ENVIRONMENTAL
Store and warehouse environment Occasionally outside in a variety of weather conditions while making deliveries.
