This position is responsible for the assisting with the recovery, monitoring and preparation of aquatic livestock designated for retail distribution. This role focuses on maintaining animal welfare during holding and recovery processes by ensuring proper oxygenation, observing of livestock condition and preparations for animal shipment.

AM Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with re-oxygenation and conditioning of aquatic livestock according to operational procedures.
- Visually inspect fish for signs of stress, illness, or injury and report concerns to supervisors.
- Assist with sorting, staging, and preparing livestock for shipment to retail partners.
- Support feeding and general husbandry activities for livestock within the Re-Ox holding systems.
- Maintain clean tanks, holding systems, and surrounding work areas.
- Follow proper handling procedures when working with aquatic animals to minimize stress and injury.
- Assist with preparing livestock for packaging and shipment as directed.
- Support additional operational tasks within aquatic operations as needed based on shipment schedules and vendor requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
Maintains safe and compassionate animal handling practices, at all times, while performing job duties. Ability to multi-task and operate with a sense of teamwork. Willingness to learn about all aspects of the animal care industry, including knowledge of fish care and on-site operations. Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
Requirements:
Previous experience in aquatic animal care, warehouse operations, or pet/aquarium retail preferred. Basic knowledge of fish species, marine care, and acclimation practices a plus Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately inspect and handle live animals. Reliable and adaptable with the ability to work variable schedules, including evenings and weekends Strong organizational and time management skills to manage changing priorities. Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment. Effective communication and customer service skills. Reliable transportation to and from the facility. Commitment to upholding Apet's Pledge of Care and company safety standards.
Physical Demands:
Employee is frequently and regularly required to lift and carry 50 pounds frequently, and occasionally in excess of 70 pounds. Employee is frequently and regularly required to stoop, kneel or bend. The ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time is required. The ability to transport, handle and place fish/animals in their enclosures or items on shelves throughout the warehouse is required. Employee must be able to move fish and other goods that are received, including pushing, pulling, pending, knelling, and twisting. In performing duties, employee is regularly required to use hands to grasp; and to reach with hands and arms, at or above shoulder level. Ability to work in a moderately noisy environment.
