Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Forklift Operator(Checker/Loader) in our Carpet Cushion Docks Department on 1st Shift [5am
- 1pm] at our Elkhart, Indiana foam manufacturing plant. This position is responsible to perform final quality checks on finished product and load on trailers via forklift and handle the product by hand on the trailers per customer requirements. The pay rate for this position is $23.93
- $24.
Additional Responsibilities of this position:
Manually load carpet cushion rolls and packages of foam weighing up to 80 pounds Drive a squeeze forklift to load carpet cushion rolls safely and efficiently on the docks Scan carpet cushion rolls with a hand scanner and check paperwork Print labels from a computer Run manifests and bills of lading from a computer Load and Check multiple docks simultaneously Communicate verbally and with hand signals to your co-workers that you work in close proximity to you on the docks in a high forklift traffic area Lock out trailers/chock wheels before unloading and unlock once loading is complete Assist with Inventory Inspect trailers for damage Other duties as assigned by your lead, supervisor or managerSkills/ Requirements:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree required One year of manufacturing or warehouse experience preferred Forklift experience preferred and must be able to become in house forklift certified Ability to use computerized equipment in day to day operations Basic Reading, Writing, and Math skills required Ability to work safe in a fast-paced environment Ability to walk up and down stairsShift Hours:
5am- 1pm normal schedule, may work up to 10 hours a day as production demands during overtime periods.
