Manufacturing General Labor 1st

7:00 am to 3:30 pm CST American Filter Manufacturing is seeking a dependable and adaptable General Labor employee to support our production operations in Rensselaer, Indiana. This is an entry-level, float-style position that works in different production areas based on daily staffing and operational needs. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a manufacturing environment, learning new tasks, and assisting wherever additional support is needed. Assignments may include basic machine operation, assembly, material handling, inspection, packaging, labeling, and general production support. Training will be provided. Key Responsibilities Work in different production areas based on staffing levels and production priorities. Assist with entry-level manufacturing, assembly, packaging, and material-handling activities. Load, unload, stage, count, sort, and move raw materials, components, and finished products. Feed materials into machines and remove completed products as directed. Operate designated production or packaging equipment after receiving proper training and authorization. Monitor equipment and make basic adjustments within established guidelines. Complete tasks such as trimming, cutting, bundling, bagging, boxing, labeling, and palletizing. Read and follow work orders, shop tags, written procedures, visual instructions, and supervisor directions. Inspect products for visible defects, damage, contamination, incorrect labeling, or other quality concerns. Separate and report nonconforming products or materials. Complete production counts, labels, and other required documentation accurately. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment. Participate in cross-training and perform other production-support duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous manufacturing, production, assembly, packaging, warehouse, or machine-operation experience is helpful but not required. Willingness and ability to learn multiple production processes. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Basic counting, math, and measurement skills. Strong attention to safety, quality, and accuracy. Dependable attendance and punctuality. Ability to work independently after training and collaboratively as part of a team. Flexibility to move between departments and adjust to changing production priorities. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the shift. Ability to frequently bend, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, push, and pull. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds intermittently. Ability to perform repetitive hand, wrist, arm, and shoulder movements. Ability to safely use basic hand tools, machine controls, and material-handling equipment. Ability to visually inspect products and read work orders, labels, and identifying information. Work Environment This position works in a manufacturing environment around production equipment and moving machinery. Noise levels and temperatures may vary by department and season. Employees must wear all required personal protective equipment. Work assignments, production areas, and schedules may change based on business needs, and overtime may be required.
