Job Title:
Material Handler (openings on all shifts) Job Description The Material Handler operates forklifts and other material handling equipment to move, store, and issue materials in a production environment. This role ensures accurate inventory control, supports production and shipping activities, and maintains a clean, safe workspace while following established procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices. Responsibilities Inspect forklift and related equipment daily to ensure safe and reliable operation, and report any issues promptly. Perform routine care and basic maintenance checks on forklift equipment in accordance with company procedures. Work overtime as assigned to support production, inventory, and shipping needs. Update location sheets accurately, including when automated systems or personnel are unavailable, to maintain clear material tracking. Locate material into inventory according to established procedures or location sheets when systems are down. Perform cycle counts to verify inventory accuracy and reconcile discrepancies as needed. Pull material from inventory for work orders, ensuring correct quantities and part numbers. Return unused or excess material from work orders back into inventory and update records accordingly. Issue materials in response to departmental requests, including Production, Shipping, and Quality Control. Load, unload, and relocate materials as needed to support Inventory, Production, Shipping, and Quality Control requirements. Handle materials safely and efficiently, including lifting and positioning items up to 35 pounds on a continual basis. Essential Skills At least 6 months of previous forklift experience. Valid lift truck license or ability to attain certification within required timelines. High school education or equivalent. Ability to lift 35 pounds on a continual basis. Ability to stand, walk, bend, or stoop throughout the entire shift. Basic knowledge of inventory systems and material tracking. Additional Skills & Qualifications Demonstrated leadership qualities, such as taking ownership of tasks and supporting team goals. Strong initiative and willingness to take proactive steps to resolve issues and improve processes. Experience performing basic testing or checks on materials as required by quality procedures. Ability to communicate clearly across departments, including Production, Inventory, Shipping, and Quality Control. Comfort working in a structured production environment with established standards and procedures. Work Environment This role is based in a production environment that emphasizes cleanliness and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). You will spend most of your time on your feet, standing, walking, bending, and stooping throughout the shift while operating forklifts and handling materials. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Lawrence, KS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
