Position Title:
Material Handler/Recycler(Labor Crew)

Role:
This position's primary responsibility is to assist the Supervisor of Custodial/Labor Crew/Lead for Material Handling and Recycling in prioritizing, scheduling, and overseeing the completion of work order requests and special event arrangements. This position also performs various duties to meet the changing needs of the University. Assist with planning and performing major relocations of individuals and departments to different offices and/or buildings. Pick up trash and recyclable items from buildings. Separate and shred documents, load recyclable cans, bottles, glass in appropriate area, crushes and bails cardboard. Move & deliver recyclable products to an outside recycling center once a week. Assist with window cleaning. Assist with the delivery of supplies. Check recycling containers for cleanliness and condition, wash containers as necessary, and report damaged containers to management. Assist with snow and ice removal on campus, coordinated with the Roads & Grounds Department. Response to emergency situations as necessary during and after normal work hours. Report security concerns such as unlocked doors and unauthorized personnel in buildings to the University Police and Management. Also reports any problems needing the attention of other Operations & Maintenance trades to management or Work Control. Discuss work assignments with the Supervisor & Lead Material Handling and Recycling at the beginning of each shift to mutually plan and prioritize workloads which includes proper equipment and any appropriate instruction and advice to ensure quality performance. Performs related duties of a similar nature and level of responsibility as required by Supervisory personnel.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
​ High school diploma/ GED with 1 year of related experience; valid driver's license required, CDL preferred .

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to physically perform job duties with frequent medium heavy to maximum exertion . Must be able to lift to 50 lbs. or more on a regular basis; Must be able to utilize hand trucks, dollies, forklift, moving equipment, hand/power tools, large motor vehicles and other related equipment. Work schedule including days and hours are subject to change depending on the needs of the University and the Facilities Management Operations and Maintenance Department.
